Exactly one year on, the charity fundraiser, organised by Westgate Common ARLFC, who Chris played for, is hosting a charity day in aid of SCARD (Support and Care After Road Death and Injury), who helped Chris’ mum and dad, Caroline and Hughie after their loss.

Louise Bramald, whose husband Matt is team coach, said: “Chris is missed so much by everyone – many of his family and friends still play for Westgate Common and we’re expecting the charity day to be packed.

“There will be a football game between Waterloo AFT and The Peacock AFC, both of which Chris played for, from noon on June 9 at Wakefield City Golf Club, where the team plays.

"Then there will be a rugby game – Chris’ best friend Sam Day’s Select Team vs Westgate Common ARLFC. The rugby club has retired the Number 2 shirt in memory of Christ for this season.”

The club is also selling memory pins for £3 each, with profits going to SCARD, which can be ordered via the club’s page or purchased on the day.

"It’s been amazing how the rugby club and Chris’ family have come together with the community to support each other.

"The Moran family has been a part of the Westgate rugby club for many years – dads, uncles, cousins, brothers.

"The charity day is for everyone to come together."

There will be a full day of activities including drinks and a celebration for Chris at the Lupset Hotel after the games.
